About Us

Built to inspire every student

Lumi was founded to give every student the confidence to read, write, and share their story. We believe in learning environments where creativity fuels literacy and every learner has a voice worth hearing.

Our Mission

Empowering Every Voice

Our mission is simple: advance human knowledge and literacy by empowering student expression, in every classroom, district, and community. We’re committed to creativity, equity, and learning that sparks real engagement.

Storytelling as a pathway to literacy

Students learn best when they’re emotionally connected to what they’re creating — not just completing assignments. By grounding literacy in storytelling, Lumi helps students develop comprehension, writing craft, and ownership over their learning.

Our Approach

Learning through
story

Students write more, because they care about what they’re creating.

Why This Matters

On the belief that every student has a story worth telling,
and technology should help them tell it safely.

I’ve spent years in classrooms, listening to students and teachers. Disengagement doesn’t come from a lack of ability, it comes from work that lacks meaning.

I’ve seen struggling writers transform when they create a character that reflects who they are. I’ve seen teachers relax when they have tools that truly support, not replace, their role.

Lumi was built for those moments.

Our mission is simple: help every student find their voice, to write with purpose, express themselves, and take pride in their ideas.

And just as importantly, Lumi is built with integrity. We never use student data to train AI. Safety, transparency, and trust are core to who we are.

Learning should feel joyful. Students should feel ownership. Teachers should feel supported.
